FORT WORTH, Texas - Andre Hall does just about everything for South Florida. Now if he could just learn to play defense. But then he has been around for only three games.

Stopping TCU was about the only thing Hall didn't do Saturday in a 45-44 double-overtime victory. The junior had the best game of his career and established himself as the Bulls' top offensive weapon.

Hall tied a school record with four touchdowns, three rushing and one receiving. He scored both of USF's overtime touchdowns, a 1-yard run then the winner on a 13-yard run.

"The front line made a tremendous hole for me (on the winner)," Hall said. "I was sort of scared. I didn't know what to do at first.

"I hadn't seen (a hole like that) all night."

Hall stood out in a variety of ways Saturday. He was the game's leading rusher with 119 yards on 28 carries and caught four passes for 65 yards.

His touchdown catch, a 17-yard catch on fourth and 6, tied the score at 24 with 3:58 left. Then Hall went to the sideline. The defense came on, and TCU took the lead a few plays later.

But Clenton Crossley forced overtime with a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:21 left.

Hall's performance eclipsed his rushing and receiving totals for the first two games combined.

He had 98 yards rushing on 21 carries and 53 receiving on six catches during the Bulls' 1-1 start.

Hall entered Saturday 11th nationally in kickoff returns with a 27.8 average on four returns.

He returned two kickoffs for 44 yards against the Horned Frogs. And 20 of his 43 yards on one return were wiped out by an illegal block.

In addition to his two in overtime and one late in regulation, Hall scored on an 8-yard run midway through the third quarter to tie the score at 17.

In the first quarter, his 58-yard run set up quarterback Pat Julmiste's 1-yard plunge to give the Bulls a 7-0 lead.

Before that run, Hall's longest was 17 yards. He also caught a 30-yard pass, topping his previous best of 23 yards.

Hall has established himself as the leader in total yards for his fourth team in four seasons. Before coming to the Bulls this season, he rushed for nearly 1,500 yards in 2003 at Garden City Community College and more than 1,600 in 2002 at Georgia Military, earning National Junior College Athletic Association All-America honors each season.

Hall played one season at Dixie Hollins High in St. Petersburg, gaining more than 1,700 yards with 26 touchdowns in 2000. He did that in eight and a half games, missing the other game and a half with a sprained ankle.

Surely a little defense is not too much to ask of the guy.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
