He can contribute this year and get experience for being backup next year and then starting against UF/Miami/everyone in 2010.Clearly the coaches have seen something special in him that means he can contribute early. What more do you need?He can contribute early and we'll get another QB prospect before BJ graduates. Hopefully this year.

I recall against Cincinnati, and may have been others.\Carlton Hill played here and there the entire year his freshman season. He had his biggest playing time as QB in the WVU game. He didn't play much in the NC State game (thanks to fumbling the ball away almost immediately). But he had his moments of what looked like brilliance-- for a freshman. And it was good that he got out there that year since he was gone academically just as fast. Now BJ as I understand it is a good student-- so I don't see that being an issue. He is also probably more polished and ready to help the team out this coming year. He can contribute in various areas and getting some time on the field makes ALOT of sense seeing as Gregory will be done after this year-- we need someone with experience to back up Grothe next year. In the end-- BJ can be a 2 year starter for USF and have someone under his wing that does the same. I woul much rather have a guiy with two years experience coming in a taking the reigns than a guy who redshirted one year, had one year of cleanup duty. That is the norm for programs that have SOLID QB positions. Also-- if god forbid Matt gets hurt-- we need the depth at the position. Voss leaving made this essentially a no brainer.
