I really think our depth has gotten much better and don't expect any to play.

Of the freshmen some might get some time.

Mark Popek at OT.

Corey Grissom at DT.

Danous Estanor at DT.

Quavon Taylor on special teams coverage.

A couple others may play on Special Teams (similar to what Nate Allen and Richard Kelly have done the last couple years) but I doubt very many position players.  OL and DL are the thinnest positions so there may be opportunities there.

Demetris Murray on Special Teams and might see limited action at RB to gain some experience.

George Baker on Return Teams

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL HS: Rated as the 47th cornerback in the country by Scout.com...A flat out burner with perhaps the most speed in USf’s 2008 class...Timed in 40-yard dash at 4.38...Vertical leap of 38 inches...All-Dade County (2006, 2007)...Adept as defensive back, running back and return specialist...Could contribute early in collegiate career on return teams. Also played at running back and as a junior had 93 carries for 1010 yards and 10 TD’s...Recorded 50 tackles between the safety and cornerback position...As a senior he posted 209 carries for 1,643 yards and 19 TD...Two kick off returns for TD...40 tackles and 3 interceptions...Chose USF over Auburn, Miami and Rutgers.

It would be great if Baker would redshirt...  with Ford and Taylor as true sophomores we could use a second season post-Ford with Baker as the go-to guy.

although there are rumblings of a proposal to do away with redshirt seasons - letting players play all five seasons (if they graduate in four).

Check it out - I was getting gas at a station in Miami near Coconut Grove, and this kid comes up to me and asks if I go to USF. (My truck is still decked out with USF all over it). He points to his friend in the car, who gets out and says "I'm going there to play football this year." Lo and behold, it was George Baker! He's a really nice guy, we talked for a good ten minutes outside the pump. He's excited about coming, and he really seemed to like the other players and Leavitt. Of course, hopefully that's what a commit would say, but he was quite genuine. I think he's going to make an excellent Bull.

Well, he did decommit from Auburn to play for USF, so that alone says quite a bit.

The decommitment could say two things: 1) He really likes USF enough to come here from Auburn.  2) His commitment could change again.

It depends on whether you look at it from a normal view (1) or a smazza view (2).  ;)

Baker is a CB.
