Also notice RB Mike Ford, 6-2, 225, So., South Florida.

I'm expecting to see Mortensen, Rivera, and the rest of the front 7 completely shut this guy down! People across the nation have no idea how solid this KU defense has been for several years now!

Ford should be getting as many carries as gameplanned.  I still consider Grothe our most dangerous runner and defenses will either know or soon figure out that stacking the box will spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!

It is CRUCIAL that we get the Ford rolling right out of the gate.  Leavitt BETTER not put the brakes on in this TN-Martin game!  If you need to keep rolling up points until your offense looks like it's on key, then you better keep doing it!!!  Don't give me this "oh, run a vanilla offense and keep it close to make the other team happy" GARBAGE!!  I hope Leavitt learned his lesson after Elon's coach wrote a letter to the alumni apologizing for "losing a winable game."  Screw that!!!  To me, beating a 1-AA team by 15 and then PAYING them for playing us is a LOSS!!  They're getting paid, give them their friggin money's worth.  People won't give you crap for hanging 70+ points on an FCS opponent---- hell, you're supposed to!!!

Maybe I'll be the only USF fan with this opinion, but if you have the opportunity to knock an opponent on it's ass, the do it, with the utmost respect.  I'm not saying let Grothe throw for 600 and Ford run for 300... I mean, you can put in the backups... but you still need to run your offense accordingly.  I will be greatly disappointed if I have to sit and watch the second half of this game HOPING WE HANG ON!

Sorry, I drifted well off topic, and now I'm all jacked up!!!  Bottom line, Ford should be used as game-planned.

whoa man-- take a chill pill regarding the warm up game. If anything, it may have put the next opponent (AUBURN) a little less concerned when we just kind of meandered through that game.

I'm not sayin we should do it as some sort of deception but here are the things I want out of game 1:

1) NO ONE GETS HURT

2) WE WIN

3) Our first team offense and defense gets in a good half of football and is prepped for the [glow=red,2,300]Kansas[/glow] game

4) Our backups get plenty of time on the field and experience that will be vital going forward

5) a decent crowd that sticks around for atleast one half.

Did USF change the schedule? Or, do you have such little respect for UCiF that you are looking right past them to the KU game? I bet it is the latter. ;)

I may have mixed it up a little bit= I meant for our newer players getting time in for certain before Kansas (or the brunt of our conference schedule).

I don't think we can assume lots of rest for our starters against UCF or time for young guys to get reps. It could happen but other than last season, most of our games have been kinda tough. THere is alot of emotion in that game.

... he is limited due to his height and arm stregnth.

The only thing his height will limit him, is NFL .

There is too much evidence proving his arm strength that questioning his is laughable. I've seen 50 yarders between defenders, throws on the run and sharp strikes with D holding on to him.

Ford, only 5 fumbles?(Thanx Jim) ... proof IMO that he was not in more due to his blocking.

I don't look at that as talking smack.  I just see that as an opposing team's fan having confidence in his team's front 7.

Go ahead.... try to shut down Ford-- while Grothe is throwing strikes to one of the most athletic receiving corps in the country.

I have been saying it since last season. Mike Ford is the KEY to the offense. If he can't get us decent yards to make it 3rd and short. Then we don't convert. You can't rely on your QB to be the only running threat as well as give him horrible field posistion on 3rd down. When B. Williams plays thats what happens every time (Minus the FAU game) If Ford gets his carries then we consistently move the football down the field at a good pace and take the pressure of Grothe.

Luckily everywhere I have seen our depth chart shows Mike Ford over Ben Williams. So lets freaking give him the ball!

havent you been disappointed enough

ford will never be featured back

\

grothe is focal point of offense  and bulls have rbs by committee

all backs will get chance to shine

Its about offensive weapons.  If we can have Mike Ford as our power back, and one or two other backs that poise a different kind of threat it will take the pressure off Grothe and he will be able to throw better passes and reduce his INT stat.  That will equal a balanced team.

I see our special teams improving and our offense improving with a weakness in the O-Line.  Our defense will be about the same unless we get some players having breakout seasons.

Grothe please work on the throwing in your spare time, I know you are accurate when you are on the move but practice pocket throwing.  I may be out of line but I want big things as a leader from you this year and want to see you make other players such as Ford, Williams, Taylor, our WR and TE exceed expectations.

have you ever seen bulls play

first glay will be grothe run

bulls will not have onbe power  back getting vast majority of carries
