That may have something to do with Title 9. Gotta love the Liberals.

He NEVER said if it was a women's swimming team. So how does Title 9 apply? Gotta Love the ignorant.  ;D

We used to have a swimming program... even won a championship... but it just isn't a priority.

We don't have ALL sports.  Big deal.  No one is losing sleep over it, other than smazz.  We don't have Bowling, Lacrosse, etc (other than club level) either.

he makes a point a team in Florida without swiming is like the winter olympics without hockey.

USF should develop a swimming program.  Though, Nebraska has no bearing on why...

A few sports USF should pick up on:

Men’s hockey

Women’s Gymnastics

Men’s and women’s Lacrosse

Men’s and women’s swimming

With the revenue from the Big East we should be able to field such teams.

Hockey has the potential to pay for itself eventually (though without a rink near campus it's not very likely to happen).

The revenue from the big east can only fund so much.

Would you rather have 6 more sports (3 guys, 3 girls), all costing a fortune to travel around the country and bringing in zero revenue, or would you like to improve our athletic facilities, get a cafeteria, etc.

Adding sports not only hurts financially in that all those sports would operate in the red just like all sports other than football and men's hoops, but they also take away money from things that are MUCH more important at this time.  The better football does, the more money there will be for all the sports that can't hold their own weight.  But the money and investment must come first.

I'm all for adding other sports, but honestly, not in the next decade.

Lets get the cafeteria, indoor practice facility, baseball stadium, softball stadium, soccer stadium, maybe an on campus football stadium first and worry about swimming and all 20 of its fans later.

I see what you mean, but we're making quite a bit more than we did when we were in CUSA, which made more than No Party Affiliation, which made more than 1AA, which made more than no football program.

Even when we had no football program we managed to fund the sports like golf and tennis.  With the Gigantic increase I don't think 6 sports are going to push our athletics into the red.

------------

and if athletics couldn't improve our facilities because of a swimming or dive team we'd need to consider a new director.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
