the rumor i heard....and its just a rumor...is that if st pete doesn't become more receiving of the new stadium idea then they will just play out the remaining years on the current lease (till 2018 i thinnk?) but the seminole indian tribe has a serious vested interest in bringing that stadium to the fairground's location (right next to their casino) and would make a hefty financial contribution to make it happen.

again, its a rumor at this point, probably thrown out there by someone affiliated with the rays just to try and stir the pot in the city of st pete.

personally, i would love to have the new stadium site at the fairgrounds but it seems like such a long shot at this point.

either way, its safe to say that the rays will be at the trop for atleast the next 4 years.

I'm in left field for Monday.  GO SOX!

i bet you've never even been to boston

Ahhhh you caught me.  I've seen 3 games at Fenway.  Lived in Mass until my family made the trek down south when I was 7.

The fans at the game were fine last night.  On the way back, you had the drunken yahoos yelling and screaming.  Saw a Rays fan who deserved an ass beating, and saw a Sox fan who deserved one too.  Crowd was about 50-50.

Last night for the perfect example of why we need a stadium

Exactly.  Can you imagine if that crap would have happened in the 9th inning of a playoff game.

It's an embarrassment.

Crowd was 50/50?  You're crazy.  60/40 Rays.  There were a few sections of red sux fans but throughout the stadium there was a majority of Rays fans.

And you moved here when you were 7?  Are you kidding me?  You should be a Rays fan.  You live here now!  It's not like you lived there 40 years, 7? 7? Cmon, what a joke.

I doubt the state fair would be going anywhere.  Just doesn't seem plausible to me.  Also im sure Big Stein doesn't want the Rays in Hillsborough and would do everything possible to block.

The fairground rumor has been around for about 2 years now. No teeth and probably won't happen.
