It's wonderful.  This season, no matter how it ends, has been so much fun already.  I hope we can keep it up in the 2nd half.  All the pieces are there for the most part.  I'm kind of worried about Percy, but I think we have capable pitchers to replace him.  Against popular opinion, I would almost prefer to see Balfour (or Price) take over closing rather than Wheeler if something happens to Percy.  Wheeler is doing so awesome in that set up role that I'm almost scared to take him out of it.  What do you guys think?

I don't think you want a rookie closing games when you're competing for a playoff spot.  Wheeler has some experience and so does reyes.  If troy is out I would like to see:

7th - Reyes/Howell

8th - Balfour

9th - Wheeler

I hear you, but I think Balfour might be good in that closer role.  I'm not saying just give it to Balfour, but maybe try it out once or twice and see what happens before it gets too late in the season.  Obviously if it's crunch time you give the ball to the guy with the experience.  Hopefully Percy can stay somewhat healthy and this won't be an issue, but I'm wary.

price wont be the closer.  they dont want to create a jaba situation.  i could see neimann groomed for the closers role in the future if starting doesnt work out for him.  or id be happy with bringing up price when he is ready and moving sonnestine to the bullpen (you wouldnt have to worry about him walking the bases loaded thats for sure)

balfour has closers "stuff" with his overpowering fastball but obviously there is more to closing then having powerful stuff (see seth mcclung)  but balfour did very well closing for durham this year.

i just hope we keep winning games by 5+ runs so it doesnt even matter

I don't think Sonnanstine would be good out of the pen.  He usually gets roughed up in the first inning then settles down.

That would make it easier, huh?
