Oregon.  Rutgers this year isn't far behind.

Oregon was a preparation disaster. The Ducks changed up their offense and it looked like USF had no idea it was coming. They killed the Bulls with that zone-read-option package.

If you want to use the sun as an excuse, here's something for you: when you looked into the sun, you had to try and find a brown football up against a dark green jersey as it was moving from player to player. That's **** hard to do.

And I doubt the players could have gotten that much partying done in El Paso, Texas, on a Sunday night. I was there. It's not possible.

Other worst/painful losses that I haven't seen mentioned:

Hofstra 1999 (Giovanni Effing Carmazzi)

Southern Miss 2000 (beatdown)

Arkansas 2002 (massive beatdown)

UAB 2003 (wild rally to tie the game, then lost on a last-second FG, cost USF bowl eligiblity)

Cincinnati 2004 (beatdown)

Kansas 2006 (ugly game, should have won, another one of my ill-fated road trips, I even lost $100 in the KC casinos)

Cincinnati 2007 (eight turnovers and still only end up losing because of a dropped TD at the buzzer)

Oregon-obvious reasons

Rutgers last year-obvious reasons

TCU loss-lost our home winning streak

Army-homecoming loss

Oklahoma-we were in the game, go for a fake punt that works and we scored on, only to have it called back for some stupid penalty, up to that point we were in the game and winning

Miami-had to drive back home in a car with me, one other Bulls fan and three Cane fans (dad, aunt, and uncle) all who ragged on me about the game

Southern Piss 2002-was my first football roadtrip with SAA/SBC and we get destroyed

oregon without question.

end of discussion.

Without a doubt.

Our best season yet was in 2007 - had 3 close loses in a row, but getting dominated by Ducks ... SUCKS !

Excited about 2008.

Go BULLS !!!  :gobulls

They did go out every night. This is a fact. Juarez was crazy every night of the week.

I really find it quite interesting that so many are saying Oregon.  Oregon was maybe one of our most embarrasing losses, but in the bigger scheme of things, for the program it may actually turn out to be our "best loss".  We were completely out prepared, out coached and out played in every aspect.  A Jim Leavitt coached team will never be unprepared and embarrassed like that again.  My worst loss was 2005 UCONN.  Everyone seems to forget that if we would have won that game we would have been playing for the Big East Championship against WVU the following week.  That may have accelerated the national exposure of the team by a year and even given us a leg up on a couple of recruits.

The UAB game where we lost a chance at bowl eligibility was also an bad loss.  Other than that, the losses in games that had no real implications are simply losses no matter how close.  For me, it's hard to call losses to BCS teams when we were only a 1aa team or a new 1a team still playing with 1aa recruits on the roster bad losses.  Now that the playing field is level it's a different situation altogether.

How many players do you think have passports to get into Mexico?

Yeah, I mentioned that game in my post earlier in this thread.  That one was tough cause UCONN should have never beat us that year.  Stupid cold weather.  LOL  You actually took it a step further then me though and brought up how that possibly could have strengthened our recruiting pitch much earlier.  I hadn't really even thought of it from that angle.  Very good point.  It really was a costly loss.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
