how about all four games last year that we dropped.  Those were our worst.  Droped from 2 to not ranked.  Then Oregon killed us to put the last nail in the coffin.

Tough season.

the fact that only one person has mentioned TCU and almost everyone else has mentioned Oregon really goes to show how many newer fans there are on the board...

Oregon wasn't that bad.  Not even the worst this past year, Rutger was MUCH worse

the 2003 TCU game was the first game I went to. It sucked to lose the then current div1A home winning streak.

just a thought: the first loss that came to mind for me as a fan was TCU in 2003. It wasn't the worst loss for the program but I still remember the feeling of leaving that stadium that day. It was the first season I really got into USF football and the first season I went to games (it was the year I transfered to USF from boston). It was a good rivalry at the time and to loose our home win streak that game...it was like a sucker punch to the gut even for a new bull.

I agree - the TCU game in 2003 and the breaking of the home winning streak!  That game will forever be my worst loss, and to rub salt into the wound, when we got back to the truck, some ******'s had stolen the rest of the beer out of the cooler :o :-\ :-\.  We have since bought an SUV and the beer stays under lock and key.  ;) :drinkup

I was ticked when our streak ended too.  But if you are in awe of streaks and records check out the Sun Bowl.  Our defense is on the business-end of history with regard to almost every offensive record in Sun Bowl History (like 75 years) . . . . a major hall of shame.

Basically, 50 years from now I'll be watching the Sun Bowl in a nursing home and some team will be demolishing the other team and approaching all sorts of records for Sun Bowl beat-downs.  At the approriate time a graphic will appear mentioning Oregon v. USF.  That's why the Sun Bowl gets my vote.

BTW,was that TCU game the one where Brian Fisher threw a TD pass?

yeah that was the game B Fisher threw a TD pass, I was pretty sure but double checked on ESPN.

and it wasn't as much the actual streak/record to me as it was the emotions evoked because of it. I think people had almost forgotten what it was like leaving the stadium after a loss, and to have it be a close game where we had that ray of hope in the fourth...all of that combined just made it the worst to me.

I would have to say for me emotionally the worst loss was at Rutgers last year.  We should have won that game, as everyone here knows, and it began our death spiral from #2.  The Oregon game was a beat down that we're all ashamed of, but lets be honest.  Even though we were only down a few points at the half, you could see that we didn't show up to play that day.  What happened in the 3rd quarter didn't really surprise me or the people I was watching with.  We had no heart that day and it showed from the get go.  I think the UCONN game in 05 might also be up there.  If we win that game we're playing WVU for the BE title at home the following week.  UCONN had no business beating us that season.  And of course that TCU game hurt cause we had that great home winning streak on the line.  Should have won that one too.  With all these "ifs" and "should haves" I kind of sound like a UCF guy.  Please forgive me.  LOL

Utah was a very poor performance - watch it on tv years ago.

Second - if we had better coaching (sorry jimbo) in El Paso we would have selected the other endzone to defend.  The sun (setting) all throughout that horrible quarter was brutal.  No one, including Matt, could see.  I know it sounds like a cop out but if you remember (or can rewatch that quarter) you will see.

Just my thought.

In no order...

Rutgers last year, it was even worse watching it in person.

Army in 04 was really bad.  Homecoming game...and I was one of the Homecoming directors, great week til game time....we were used to always winning Homecoming games.... :-/

Oregon was horrible.  My friend and I were being crazy superstitious during game time....But it nothing worked.  Trip was still a crazy fun time.

TCU in 03.  Our win streak on the line on ESPN...and we lose!!  I came out on TV after that game along with 2 friends.  I guess ESPN wanted to see some really disappointed faces on TV.
