Guest
I don't know if "wants" is the correct word to use, but it is being discussed formally where as it has been discussed informally for some time. IF the SEC does start it's own network, it will be much more successful than the Big Ten Network was/will be. There won't be the same distribution problems that the Big 10 had partly because everyone saw how bad that was and the demand for the SEC network will force a solution for any potential problems, one way or the other. i dont know about that. the big 10 is by far a much more nationwide fan base where the SEC is VERY regional.Actually, that might be part of the reason why the SEC network would be more successful. Cable carriers in the Southeast would be hard pressed not to include the network in its offerings... If the Big Ten is $7 million per team, the SEC would probably be closer to $10 per team.I'm surprised all of the conferences don't try this... of course, not many places would be willing to carry the Sun Belt Network...I would love a Big East network tho... even for a few $$ per month. Government regulation, for better or worse, forces them to continue to carry the analog broadcasts which require roughly 10x what a digital transmission uses and 3x what a HD digital transmission would use. For this reason many cable providers have to be highly selective in what they add, not because they can't pass the cost on to customers, but because they just don't have enough bandwidth.Of course if they didn't dedicate so much of their bandwidth to phone and internet, but those are big money makers. It seems like the best of both worlds sort of thing that I'd prefer for the Big East. It guarantees production and distribruation, but at the same time games are shown on the local network affiliates. This is unlike the Big 'Leven network, where if they have broadcast rights to a game, you cannot see it unless you have that channel.

I love the Big Ten Network for football and basketball season. I'd love to see this. It makes almost every game viewable.
