I'm an atty in NC and not Florida (so take this for what its worth), but assuming the cop will be able to say he actually saw the kid in the act (which would kill almost all defense theories to try the case):

Unless evidence shows Taylor was going over the top to coerce an otherwise chaste 14 year old to have sex with him, he'll be able to cop a plea to the charge of indecent liberties with a minor.  He'll get probation and have to do all the registry crap and disclosure stuff for sex offenders.

He's still screwed, but he'll avoid jail time and have to try out for a minor league team to keep the baseball dream alive.

If he got 60 credits at a juco and finished probation, I'd have no problem with USF taking this kid in a few years.

He'll probably get some sort of probation and not ever see prison, as long as he doesn't have previous arrests.  Remember a few years ago Carlton Hill was arrested for the same thing (pretty much) except it took place in a scholl.

What's wrong with you guys who are trying to make excuses for him. She was 14! Imagine if that was your daughter. This guy belongs in jail unless she did fool him into thinking she was old enough. However, if he knew she was 14.. that's just wrong.

Nothing wrong.  Why does he belong in jail?  I really think they need to cahnge around this law, make the minimum of the law less for cases like this.

I'm kind of on the fence here.  On one hand, it was apparently consenting sex, between two teenagers.  On the other hand, she is only 14.

Allright oldman. Thanks for letting us know your 70. 75% of the 14 year olds today LOOK 18, and claim to be 16-17-21, depending on what it will get them. This doesnt sound like he forced himself on her, it sounds like there was consent. If the girl was 16, and he was 20 would there be a different opinion?
