USF Softball Wins Big East

The University of South Florida softball team won the school's first Big East regular-season title Sunday and the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament.

The Bulls (42-17, 16-4) had their doubleheader at Connecticut on Sunday canceled by poor field conditions, but they still edged DePaul (45-16, 16-6) for the league title.

It's the first regular-season Big East title in three years for any USF sport. The women's tennis team won the 2007 Big East Tournament.

The Bulls open against No. 8 seed Providence on Thursday in the Big East Tournament in Louisville, Ky.

Good lcuk, girls.  The softball team has been the best sports team at USF for a number of years now.  Keep it alive.

our first national title? when?

USF's first - and only - national championship came in 1988 (I think) when the since-eliminated men's (maybe women's? perhaps someone else should have pointed this out...) swimming and diving team won it.
