2009 NFL Draft Position Rankings

The Free Safeties

Going into the 2008 season, here are the top prospects to watch out for. For now, only FBS/D-I players who'll be eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft are listed. The player analysis will come later this summer. Remember, this isn't a ranking of the best college players. Yes, there sometimes is a difference between being a good pro prospect and a productive college football star.

1. William Moore, Missouri

2. Nate Allen, USF (Junior)

3. Derek Pegues, Mississippi State

4. Rashad Johnson, Alabama

5. Nic Harris, Oklahoma

6. Josh Pinkard, USC

7. Chris Clemons, Clemson

8. Antonio Baker, Louisiana Tech (Junior)

9. Shane Carter, Wisconsin (Junior)

10. Bo McNally, Stanford (Junior)

Maybe Jenkins had more help than we thought.

Or Jenkins is making a lot of players a lot of money.

Nate Allen is an athletic freak of nature. He could play QB for us.

Nate Allen rated the #2 safety (I'd declare for the draft), Selvie rated as a mid first rounder (you'd declare for the draft) and 3 Off. Linemen playing as seniors, plus Mckenzie is a senior . . . . Next year is the year before we reload a bit.

Polls like this are ignorant.  It is way too early to tell which player will be best at what position.  I agree when they say this stuff about lineman because they don't need anyone else to play well to make them look good.  Selvie is a stud no matter who else is on the defense.  When you have two very good CB's that just got drafted in the NFL draft, it might be a tad bit premature to say how good your saftey's are.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
