Not a big fan of this move.  Don't like Friday games either, but it is what it is.  ESPN controls everything about our schedule, so we're at the mercy of the genius' in Bristol.

UConn vs. USF Football Moved Back to Nov. 23 on ESPN

TAMPA – ESPN and the BIG EAST Conference have moved the USF football team’s regular season home finale back one day and into a primetime national television slot.  The Bulls and Connecticut Huskies will now meet on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

The game was previously schedule for Saturday, Nov. 22 with an undetermined TV network and kickoff time.

The move gives USF six guaranteed games before a national audience on the ESPN body of networks.  USF will also play UCF, Kansas, Pitt, Cincinnati and West Virginia on the Worldwide Leader in Sports.

The game comes prior to a bye week and will give the Bulls 13 days to prepare for regular season finale, also on ESPN or ESPN2, at West Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who share Raymond James Stadium with USF, are on the road for an afternoon game at Detroit on Nov. 23.

During the 2008 season, USF will be in the fortunate position of having four games nationally broadcast in time slots with no other college football competition. The Bulls play in the ultra-popular Thursday night slot at home against Pitt (Oct. 2) and at Cincinnati (Oct. 30).  USF also hosts Kansas on a Friday night game, which was good to the Bulls when West Virginia came to town in 2007, on Sept. 12.  The fourth instance is aforementioned Sunday night game, which will pin the Bulls against Sunday night NFL coverage of the San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts, but not any other college games.

The 2008 season will mark the first year of a six-year arrangement with ESPN that gives the BIG EAST unrivaled exposure on ABC television and the ESPN family of networks. ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC will carry a total of 17 BIG EAST games each season, marking the highest guaranteed total on ESPN and ABC in league history. Championship Saturday in December will include one game either on ABC or ESPN and another on ESPN2. Four BIG EAST games will be featured on ESPN’s Thursday-night package. At least one game will be part of ESPN’s Saturday prime time series. Two BIG EAST games will be provided for ESPN on Sunday nights.

The BIG EAST also announced that Rutgers has completed their 2008 schedule with the addition of Morgan State on Sept. 27.

LOL, that completes another tough Out of Conference schedule for RU. Fresno State, UNC, Navy, Morgan State and Army. Pretty pathetic.

The NFL has no say in the matter... This is the third season for ESPN Sunday Night College Football...

The reason they never did this before is because of TV. The conventional wisdom held that no one would watch a college game when there was a pro game on TV.  Well, when ESPN lost their Sunday Night coverage and ABC transferred Monday Night over to ESPN, the sports network needed something for Sunday Nights after Baseball season.

So, from mid October through Thanksgiving, ESPN plays a single Sunday night game.

This is also the Bulls second Sunday Night game...  USF played Cincinnati on a Sunday night in 2006....

I would love to forget about that game...Anyways, I am not really fond of playing on Sundays.  It always is hard to go to work after a day of tailgating and football.  I usually don't even drink or show up early for Bucs games.  On the other hand, it does eliminate a potential noon kickoff which, in my opinion, is the worst.  I would rather the game be on Sunday and deal with the hang over and/or being tired the next day than having to wake up early and force tailgating and drinking at 9 or 10 in the morning.  That's just too early for this guy.

So out of the 17 games, we have 6 so far.  That is crazy!!
