Should we care about spring scrimmage attendance numbers?

Bad advertising...it was worse than last year.  So a 300 person increase is pretty good.

PLUS, they don't want to advertise it because more people = more workers/security at RJS that have to get paid.

Basically, we get billboards, commercials, posters and events on campus leading up to the spring game...then we will get AT LEAST 10,000 people there...minimum.  But no one ever knows about it...or finds out about it TOO LATE!!!

Those are the facts...

GO BULLS!!!

Bingo, advertising was pi$$ poor.  We did not get the word out.  In fact, the ad I saw in teh times was a small 1/4 or 1/8 page buried in the back of the sports section.

Consider USF had a lot of HS Junior Recruits in attendance, you'd think they would want a better showing.  If I were a HS kid and saw a paltry 4500 people, about what may show up for a large HS game, then I'd wonder if that was a good place for me.  I know we bring these kids back later in the year to a real game, but it was dissapointing to have them see a boring game with no butts in seats.  I don't think I'd bring the recruits there....

It doesnt make sense to pour money advertising a scrimmage. Recruits are more concerned with how many real games we win in the season, which will be advertised and filled with a lot more fans than 4600

I was able to find a post from last year's spring game attendance.  At 4700, we are still in with some decent schools.  Outside of the traditional top 20, seems to be a small attendance - mostly die hards.

Says who?  GOL treats spring games similar to us.  I remember a year or so ago they had something like 2700 so that doesn't seem right.

Here's the other side of the field, before the UCF contingent starts yapping about funny camera angles:

makes sense.  I think last year they couldn't believe we had 4,500 because they were substantially less like 2700 or 3000 something like that.  But to their defense GOL doesn't treat spring games with much more, if any more, enthusiasm then Leavitt.

This year was the first spring in the new stadium, and a tribute to EP.  You'd expect a slightly stronger turnout for them of course.

Gotta remember not everyone does a game. Under Carr Michigan ran 7 on 7s and Skeleton drills, no timed/scored spring game which is why 5500 showed. This year they had no fans allowed.
