murray wasn't the best running back in his state, averin collier was. and cuse recruited him to play linebacker since they felt he was too slow for running back. losing smith was a big loss, we had a similar situation when ponton decided to transfer. and you're forgetting there's a lot more to running back than just taking a handoff, they have to learn blitz pickups, the play book, different formations, work on route running, etc. that's a heck of a lot to expect for true freshman to come in and pick up right away with just fall practice and maybe some summer voluntary practices.

Murray is a FB or LB waiting to happen.  The answer, but it will take a while, is Brandon Davis, and Brynn Harvey.  Neither are completely polished coming in, but both have loads of potential.  UCF will start seeing it at the 2nd half of this season and by 2009 they should have an excellent 1-2 combo with those two.

Trust me that's the answer.

Brandon Davis looks like a monster.

You may be on to something about Murray.  The only real question is if he would break through the depth chart?  UCF has some good young LBs.

Well as talented of an athlete as Murray is he'll probably shock you.  Besides your depth chart is a bit deceiving at LB.  Cory Hogue is a Sr., Jordan Richards is a Jr. (and constantly banged up), Henderson a junior, the rest of the guys behind these are freshmen untested, or fillers.

To me, your staff finally figured out how to recruit LB's to cover spread offenses...guys like Murray, Loren Robinson, Linam, and Lawrence Young are going to cover way more ground then the guys you presently have starting, albeit Young is a partial starter.  This is why USF has had so much success against UCF, and hopefully fortunately for us the youth is still too young to make an impact in our game this year.

The next position for your staff to dabble in is DE...stop recruiting these shorter, stockier DE's.  It needs to be a track meet to the QB not a shoving contest.
