UNLV women's coach expected to be hired soon

REVIEW-JOURNAL

UNLV conducted its sixth and final on-campus interview Thursday for its vacant women's basketball job, and a decision on the next coach is expected in the coming days.

Sources said the finalists, in order of when they interviewed, are former UCLA coach and UNLV standout player Kathy Olivier, Washington assistant Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, Texas-El Paso coach Keitha Adams, Northern Arizona coach Laurie Kelly, South Florida coach Jose Fernandez and Rutgers assistant Carlene Mitchell.

If it's that close, some applicants should be withdrawing their names any minute now...

Greenie got run out of Tampa (how can we forget so easily)... and then RMC quit on all of Seth's recruits bringing in two stellar players tops (Solomon Jones and Gransberry). Last I recalled, Seth has been doing a so-so job at Tech... something like two ACC COY's, an NCAA second round appearance, and then two NIT's. Not bad for his first five years with a program that was in the cellar worse than what RMC left us.

I feel like Jose has gotten us a bit further than Greenie... a tourney appearance... and maybe he realizes he's not the man to take USF to the next level. We lost to UConn in OT in Storrs. That's about as close to greatness as we will get under Jose... but that is way further than anyone ever dreamed of and way further than most coaches get any women's team.

It's all evening out for Seth...I think he's 88-70 there now.  He ended here at about .500.  Probably will there too.  Even if kids grow wanting to be Hokies.
