USF had a comfortable 7-3 lead entering the 9th before a rash of walks and a key single cut the lead to 7-6 with the bases loaded and one out. Sanford, who walked home run 6, struck out the next batter and got a fielder's choice.

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The University of South Florida held on Wednesday night for a 7-6 win over Bethune-Cookman University at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in a thrilling baseball affair in windy and unseasonably chilly Daytona Beach, Fla.

Bethune-Cookman (22-15) was a hit away--literally, on Wednesday night from capturing a miraculous comeback against one of the best closing pitchers in college baseball today.

Bethune-Cookman is not a bad team. They already have a win aganist us this year.

WoHoooo

Make no mistake about it - Bethune Cookman is a bad baseball team.

The fact that they have a win against us just shows that we are a bad team also.

I know we're young but there really is no excuse for us to be this bad!

Right now USF is the third best college team in Tampa Bay behind University of Tampa and yes St. Pete Jr. College.

NOT TRUE - being a freshman pitcher probably receiving "real" coaching for the first time has a lot to do with it!  You can be talented but inexperienced which is what our pitchers are.  They have one of the best pitching coaches in the nation and over the next couple of years the staff is going to be pretty dang good.

Defensively we have few talented players (Lockwood and Addison if he played 3rd) but we have talented young pitchers.

Lazer Collazo is a pitching genius, he'll have us as an outstanding staff in just a couple years.  That you can take to the bank.  If they stay healthy, he'll make outstanding pitchers out of them.

And we do have one of the best closers in college baseball... we just have to get to the 9th without using him to put out an earlier fire.

You people dissing Bethune Cookman don't follow college baseball too much do you?  They are pretty good this year, don't let the name fool you.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
