Looking at the future schedules of the nation's top teams(on NationalChamps), I've noticed the growing trend of big name schools playing other schools out of state for OOC games.  What has led to games like Ohio State/Texas, Ohio State/USC and Tennessee/Cal has become a nationwide movement.  The only school that seems to be missing from this trend, as usual, is Florida.

UF continues to be unable to leave the state of Florida for an out of conference game.  For those who defend UF, let's look at some of the other big schools and what they are up to...

Florida State - @BYU(2009), @Oklahoma(2010), @Air Force(2011), @West Virginia(2012)

Miami - @Ohio State(2010), @Marshall(2011), @Kansas State(2012),

Georgia - @Oklahoma State(2009), @Colorado(2010), @Louisville(2012), @Clemson(2013), @Oregon(2015)

LSU - @Colorado(2012), @TCU(2014), @Arizona State(2016)

Oklahoma - @Miami(2009), @Cincinnati(2010), @Florida State(2011), @TCU(2012), @Notre Dame(2013), @Tennessee(2015), @Ohio State(2017)

Tennessee - @North Carolina(2011), @North Carolina State(2012), @Oregon(2013), @Oklahoma(2014), @Nebraska(2016)

Alabama - @Penn State(2011), @Duke(2012), @Georgia Tech(2014)

Ohio State - @Army(2010), @Miami(2011), @California(2013), @Virginia Tech(2015), @Oklahoma(2016)

USC - @Ohio State(2009), @Notre Dame(2009), @Hawaii(2010), @Syracuse(2012), @Notre Dame(2013), @Boston College(2014), @Notre Dame(2015)

Texas - @Arkansas(2009), @UCLA(2011), @Mississippi(2012)

West Virginia - @Auburn(2009), @Michigan State(2011), @Maryland(2011), @Florida State(2013)

So, Florida apologists, what's your excuse now?  EVERYONE else has the balls to lay it on the line.  Why are you so afraid to actually play the game away from your home?  Are you so greedy that you have to throw way more payout than everyone else to bring teams to Gainesville because you won't go play them?  Do you ever wonder why big name teams don't want to play you?  I'll give you a hint, it isn't out of intimidation...unless you're too intimidated to you know, actually play them at home.

They're banking on the assumption that if you play in a major conference and you finish the year undefeated you'll get your shot.  Other teams are trying to be proactive and avoid being left out in the cold by leaving no doubt if they go undefeated but its a tougher road to hoe.  Different strategies for different schools.

Your logic Bulldawg is flawed.

FSU - does not play in the SEC, thus, no comparison.

Georgia - does not have another in state team like UF has to play, ie FSU.

Miami - see FSU

LSU - see Gerogia

Oklahoma - see FSU and Georgia

Tennessee - see Georgia

Alabama - plays Auburn, but that is a conference game, so see UGa.

OSU - please no other team in the country has an easier path to the big game outside of a big east team.

Texas - legit argument, plays tough conference3 and steps out, but you are talking as if Ole Miss is a good team, no.  So UCLA, Ark and Ole Miss is hardly a tough game for any real team.

WVU - plays in the big east, hardly the SEC.

I am no Florida fan, actually a UGA grad but lets be honest with ourselves.  UF plays in the SEC and plays FSU ever year.  FSU will rebound eventually and the SEC is good for two or three top 10 teams ever year.  The PAC 10 is a joke, the Big 10 is always a two leage team at best, the Big 12 is a three team league at best, the big east is a one team league for now and the ACC is a no team league for now.  Simple fact is, if you go undefeated in the SEC, you are garanteed a spot in the national championship game, that is as long as you are not on probation.

Georgia typically plays GaTech.  OOC game against an in-state team.

If UF's game against a weak FSU team can be used as a defense for them, then you can't not use the same argument for Georgia.

Georgia has balls.  UF is a puss-school.

If Texas counts as a legit argument, why doesn't Oklahoma?  Same in-conference schedule but MUCH better OOC slate.  Stoops is playing the nation's elite.  Meyer is playing patsies.

Wahhhh!!  Florida plays a tough conference just like 11 other teams.  They are pu$$ies for not leaving the state while all the others can.  Hell, even if it was against a modest, but not elite team, that would be ok.  They don't even have the balls to do that.

The Gators are a joke.

Did this really surprise you?  I think that the NCAA needs to step in and mandate scheduling similar to the NFL where teams are eventually over time able to square off against all the other teams.  Obviously, this would take some time given the numbers of college teams that we have playing Division 1 but it would be better than what we have had. This change could also make it to where teams would only have 6 home games not 7 or 8 while others have 4 or 5.

My above suggestion could also eliminate the need  to play games against 1AA teams.

The above will not happen though.  Too much politics in college football.
