Another come from behind win for the baseball team as the Bulls score 3 in the bottom of the 8th and hold on for a thrilling 9-8 victory against Northwestern.  Addison Maruszak paced the offense with 3 hits, including a towering two run homer in the 5th.  Ryan Lockwood had a huge two run single in the 8th to give the Bulls the lead for good.  Derrick Stultz pitched two scoreless innings to get the win and Shawn Sanford pitched the ninth to earn his second save.  Matt Quevedo pitched well for the first five innings only giving up 2 runs, but ran into trouble in the 6th and yielded 5 more runs.

Come on out and support the team tomorrow at Noon versus #21 Oklahoma State.

Go Bulls!!

Oh, and some uniform afficianados will appreciate that USF switched back to dark cleats and black hats tonight, instead of the customary white cleats and hats.  Maybe this was to get the offense rolling.  Who knows, but it woke up the bats at least.

Great game to be at, was getting really cold there in the 8th and 9th innings. Wasnt to thrilled when we blew the 4 run lead, but came back.  Really good crowd I thought, if someone sees what the official attendance was, post it.

Box score isn't up on gousfbulls.com, although the season stats are already updated.  Somebody is asleep at the wheel over there.

Great game and all, but did anyone else think they left Quevedo in too long?  I was surprised he didn't get lifted after plunking that guy in the back when he was in trouble in the 6th.  CLP seems to stick with his starters a bit long from what I recall last year and tonight.  Luckily we were able to win and get Quevedo off the hook.

They need to find a way to get out of the gates early. The come from behind victories wont work for long. Maruszak seems to be the only one hitting the cages. Not for him this team may not have won a single game yet. Bats need to become consistent before we get into the BE schedule.

Losing Dex, the spark plug last year, will be a difficult obstacle. Hopefully someone can step up.

Awesome game to be at.  Back and forth the whole time.  The way we came back was exciting as well.  The wife and I had four other people with us and I think we got them all hooked.  They kept talking about what a great game it was and how much fun they had.

Losing Dex is one thing, but losing our lead off batter Walter Diaz was bigger.  He was a leader on that team last year, and no one is stepping up yet.
