I'll take it especially over a team that earned their trip to the BCS and won handily.  Plus its a team we know we can beat if we play well.

That was kind of a pathetic run down for every team.  UL loses three TE's, 4 out of their top 6 receivers, possibly the best QB in their history (and that's saying a lot), and three OL, not to mention Anthony Allen and the positive is they had depth at RB...here's a hint the negative is that depth couldn't beat out slow footed Anthony Allen, and the best of the bunch, Bilal wasn't even mentioned.

Our negative is losing Dan McCarney?  Sure it sucks but he wasn't here long enough to have that profound of an impact.  I mean Selvie was a rising star in 2006 when Clark was coaching him.  I think Dan McCarney was a good DL coach, but having four seniors to coach, and one rising, fleet footed stud DE makes your job a whole lot easier.  How about the loss of 2 four year starting cornerbacks, one that is an NFL first round pick, and one of their top pick-ups.  Duh!

Anyone that would put UL before RU, Cinci, and Pitt heading into this season doesn't have a clue.  UL lost something like 16 starters now that you include Council's departure.  I wasn't a Krag's fan before and now he has a monumental rebuild job.

Totally agree.  I said the same thing when reading the McCarney piece.

I agree with you on the McCarney point but not absolutely with UL.

UL lost their "best QB" however they have a great back up called Hunter Cantwell, which I've heard is actually better than Brohm. Lets remember that Brohms dad is an assistant for UL and is good friends with Paytrino.  Kag had no choice to keep Brohm as the starter.  Also UL signed 9 JUCO prospects.  They succeed at a higher rate than HS prospects.  So it wouldn't surprise me if they were 3rd.  But even the article recognizes that 3-7 is a crap shoot.

Power,

UL lost most of their offensive specialists... and their already suspect (and young) defense will have a new scheme and some new starters.  I would say UL will be lucky to go 6-6 with their schedule, although they do get USF, WVU, Cincy, and U Conn at home:

Sat., Aug. 30      Kentucky (L)

Sat., Sept. 6      Tennessee Tech (W)

Wed., Sept. 17  Kansas State (8 p.m., ESPN2) (L)

Sat., Sept. 27    CONNECTICUT (W)

Fri., Oct. 10        at Memphis (8 p.m., ESPN) (L)

Sat., Oct. 18      Middle Tennessee State (W)

Sat., Oct. 25      USF (L)

Sat., Nov. 1        at SYRACUSE (W)

Sat., Nov. 8        at PITTSBURGH (L)

Fri., Nov. 14      CINCINNATI (8 p.m., ESPN2) (W)

Sat., Nov. 22      WEST VIRGINIA (L)

Thu., Dec. 4      at RUTGERS (ESPN) (W)

The fact that UL has 8 home games gives them a chance.  The road games aren't exactly daunting either.  The schedule definitely sets up for them.

I don't agree with Powers comments about Brohm.  You'de have to be nuts to start Cantwell over him last year.

I"m not saying that UL will be 3rd, in fact, I don't care where they end up. They could be last and I'd be fine, I do believe USF is better.  I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if UL is 3rd.  Did any of you see UCONN being a Co-Champ last year? I think not.

Of course Kag was going to start Brohm last year.  He had the experience and name recognition.  I just won't be surprised if Hunter gets drafted higher than Brohm does. Oh and Hunter will get drafted for those that don't know about him.

In their history ?  I gotta really disagree with that one.  A guy named Johny U played there and he was one the best ever of all QBs.

If you listen to most polls and sportscasters they want to list everyone from WVA, PITT, UCONN, and Rutgers ahead of us....get ready to take a back seat.....

How the hell does UL get 8 home games?  What's up with that?
