I met **** Fletcher a number of times and he was a very nice person.  I was saddened to hear of his passing.  They have requested people who wish to send condolences, do so by contributing to a USF scholarship fund.  See details from Bay News 9 below.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST.PETERSBURG (Bay News 9) -- Longtime WTSP Channel 10 Chief Meteorologist **** Fletcher has died.

Fletcher, 65, suffered a massive stroke on Feb. 18 and had been hospitalized since. He had not been responding to treatment, passing away early Tuesday morning.

Fletcher had suffered a stroke in 2004 but made a full recovery and returned to his job within weeks.

Fletcher had been with Channel 10 since 1980 and most recently anchored the 6 p.m. news weather reports each weekday.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Fletcher worked in Colorado, Texas and Nebraska before coming to the Tampa Bay area.

He is survived by his wife Cindy and three children.

The entire Bay News 9 staff would like to extend its condolences to the Fletcher and WTSP families at this difficult time.

Always sad to see someone like that pass away... a lot of these News Personalities and Meterologists have been in the Bay Area for a long time and have become local celebrities and are very recognizable in the community...

Sounds like he was a big Bulls fan.

We should have great weather at every game in the future.
