Hey students...DON'T CHEER!

After the game tonight, I'm a little upset, so forgive me for venting.

I believed that when opponents come to the Sun Dome, it is meant for the home crowd to be loud, make noise, and make it a rough place to play in. Sadly, that's apparently not the case. Rutgers fans were complaining about the student section tonight, because we were too loud and making noise. I didn't know that was against the rules. In the second half, a security guard was placed in front of our section watching for anyone to mess up while Rutgers fans yelled for him to throw us out. Nobody was cussing, nobody was saying anything offensive, it was just us trying to back our Bulls.

A second security guard was added to the opposite end of the student section because of more complaints. I don't like being policed in my stadium. I don't like being threatened or told not to be loud. It's our team! We should be able to hoot and holler all we want. Now, I feel like if we don't behave, we'll be on timeout.

Thanks to the former Athletic Association president for coming over and backing us up. She agreed students should be able to be loud. She agreed we hadn't been doing anything wrong and seemed upset that we were being patrolled.

Also....during the mens game today, there is no doubt in my mind that a USF cop was assigned to us. He spent the ENTIRE mens game standing right in front of us, arms folded, just to make sure we didnt do anything wrong.  we didnt cross the line by almost anyones standards. Then that happened during the womens game. I left in anger at halftime of the womens game.

Haha yeah when i went to the mens game vs. West Virginia this year, someone behind me shouted something and the word "****" was in the sentence, two secodns later a guard flew by me to talk to the guy and threaten to kick him out if he shouted anything else the rest of the game...

And with 10 seconds in the game (before OT), some older people asked us to sit down because they didnt want to stand up.

Never let me get old and lazy where in one of the most exciting games people still want to sit down.

I want to thank the security officer for advising us not to cheer in the manner we were. It made us target the coach even more than prior.

Let it be known Athletics... I know you read these posts and I for one will cheer in a non-vulgar manner that will get into their heads. If at any time I am told not to cheer I will be contacting everyone - including President Genshaft over this issue. I will not stand for censorship because we, the students, are making the game tough for the coaches and players. This is in one word is bull$H!t.  I am ashamed of the department for this censorship formed, and will make my voice heard over this issue that you have created.
