From what I can tell, his 382 yards of passing today beat the previous record he set vs. Syracuse (364 yards).

Four INTs sucked, but 2 (at least one) were off tipped balls, and he was only sacked twice.

Bottom line...

Grothe goes 31 for 54 for 382 yards in the air and a TD, plus runs for 75 more... and some folks are calling for Alton Voss?

With all due respect... that's idiotic.

Agreed. People love to give the QB props when we are winning and hate on him when we lose. It's part of being the face of the program. He's been overachieving for 2 years and he will continue to do so for the next 2.

That being said... there is no reason for him to have thrown the ball 54 times.

Bottom line, Grothe cost us that game... again.  No reason not to bench him.

I completely agree... and the picks that he threw that weren't tipped were bad balls... from what I could see where I was, double and triple coverage.  But when you're playing from behind... it's how it goes.

To claim that he had a terrible game and that he "sucks" though is absolutely ridiculous.  Dropped balls, muffed punts, blocked kicks, fumbles, and yes interceptions... guess what, they ALL contributed to this loss.

Josh, with all due respect...  That's the most ridiculous statement you've ever made.  And I sit right next to you, so I know you make quite a few.  ;-)

382 yards in the air.  75 on the ground.

457 yards of offense didn't cost us the game.  Giving up 31 points in the first quarter had a hell of a lot more to do with us losing than Grothe did.

Matt, I have to call BS on you on this one, but if we're getting personal, how do you know?  You weren't there to see him in the second half.

Funny, but I was.  I just wasn't sitting next to you because I got tired of the F-word ringing off my ears every 5 seconds.

But thanks for caring. ;D

More people on this board need to feel this way.

Hey, at least Alvarado's gotta be psyched today... nobody's calling for HIM to be benched for someone else.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
