TAMPA, Fla. – It’s been nine months since the University of South Florida women’s basketball team ended its 2006-07 season with a frustrating loss to Virginia in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament third round, and since that time the Bulls have gone through countless hours of individual workouts and conditioning, and three weeks of official practice. All of that preparation will be put to the test on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. when USF faces the Miami Sun in its lone exhibition game of the preseason in The Corral. Admission is free.

With the upcoming 2007-08 campaign bringing tremendous anticipation and cautious optimism – despite the Bulls losing the most productive decorated class in the program’s history – one of the main objectives in an exhibition game is to get everyone on the roster some minutes, run through your system and value the opportunity to play against someone in a different uniform.

“I think that we’ve gotten a lot out of practice so far this season,†said USF head coach Jose Fernandez. “I’m extremely happy with the progress that we have made to this point and where we are as a team. With the exhibition game, the most important aspect is to stay healthy. But then you try to get your kids a lot of minutes so you have the opportunity to get a good look at everybody on the roster. It also gives you a chance to use different lineups and develop rotations that you may use in certain situations during the season.â€Â

Last season, USF recorded a 21-12 record and a 9-7 slate in the BIG EAST Conference. The Bulls earned a bid to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament where they advanced to the third round against Virginia.

USF opens the 2007-08 campaign on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in its lone exhibition game of the preseason against the Miami Sun. The Bulls will then open the regular season on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. when they butt heads with in-state foe Bethune-Cookman.

USF will also serve as the host institution of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four, April 6 & 8 at the Forum.
