Would have been tough to do with Mike Ford on the sideline.  But, it would have been better than what we did.

IMO, what we should have done was pound the ball on 3rd and 4th down...

If you cant pound the ball one yard, you dont deserve to win...the plan ran was far to risky and the worst possible thing ended up happening...

What I don't understand is we have Richard Kelly (a Mike Alstott clone) and we didn't take advantage of him in that situation.  You get him in there, give him the ball and let him do an interpretation of a battering ram and push through the D-line to the end zone.  Or you put him in next to Grothe and let Matt ride his coattail into the end zone.  Either way the end result would have to be better than what was achieved.

I was referring more to the play, not the personnel.

The Elon play is a rollout behind 3 backs to pass first/run second - great call, we should do more of getting Matt moving and throwing on the run BY DESIGN.

UConn disgrace was a bootleg (AWAY from the 3 backs) and it was a run play all the way.

Other than that, they were pretty similar..... ???

Terrible call there because a naked bootleg will turn into a big loss if the other team stays home as Uconn did.  Should have just tried a sneak if they wanted it in Matt's hands.
