It would be nice but they need to contain more on tackles. I see our players waiting for the runner to come to them. That just gets them more yards, run up and stuff please.

in 2002 (9-2 season), Kawika had 117 tackles, JR Reed (safety) had 95, and Maurice Jones had 94. Kevin Verpaele also clocked in 84

That was in eleven games as those Bulls got screwed out of a well deserved bowl game.

fyi-- the next season (2003) MoJo had 116 tackles, JR Reed had 102, and Courtney Davenport had 88 follwed by Kevin Verpael again with 87.

BOTH those years, the next guys in terms of total tackles were linemen (in this year it was Lee Roy Selmon Jr. & Tim Jones). Also-- coming up fast was Stephen Nicholas with 46 tackles-- 11 of which were TFL(outstanding)

again-- this was in eleven games albeit the level of competition was a little less impressive as we were still transitioning out of our 1-AA days.

DL's job is to control the line of scrimmage, rush the QB and keep OL off of the linebackers.  Linebackers making all the tackles is a good sign.
