of course MG is gonna make mistakes. everybody makes mistakes.  he's barely midway thru his sophomore year.

but his leadership and playmaking more than make up for those mistakes... all teams and players make mistakes during the course of a game, and we could be one of those teams that win handily DESPITE those mistakes if we had some semblance of intelligible playcalling, discipline to avoid false starts and holding penalties, and more reliable offensive (and special teams) playmakers.  Grothe is surrounded by athletic talent on offense, but no consistency.

and despite all our shortcomings, despite losing TJ and Amarri and Walt and the Ford (towards the end), we still drove back on UConn--- led by the Grohawk--- and had a chance to tie with the last play of the game (and would have tied without a penalty).  despite the free-fall plummeting of our team that began after the blocked kick/FG debacle at Rutgers, we've still only lost 2 tough in-conference road games by 10 points.

this season is still special.  to be 6-2 and ranked 18th with wins over Auburn and WVU is what we all hoped for coming into the season.

just imagine next year with Grothe a junior, Ben and TJ seniors, Jesse a junior and Mitchell, Bogan, Jamar and the Ford all with a year of playing time under their belt.

in fairness to mg,he doesnt have any competent receivers

leavitt has failed to surround grothe with talent

I think they will get there, the next couple of years are going to be wild and Grothe is going to tear it up even more with more weapons around him.

TJ is competent.

Hester, Mitchell and Bogan are young, but could prove to be as talented as any WR corps we've had come next season.  Hester is really shaping up to be impressive.

Erskin will be back next year, and from what i hear he has hands made of glue.

It's pretty cool to watch these freshman receivers go out there and catching nice passes.  Wait until these guys get even better.

Hester is a sophomore i believe... boy can that kid catch some clutch passes.

he had that catch Saturday in the 4th that saved our drive and put as at 1st and goal.... defender was right on him, he knew he was gonna take the hit and he still came down with the ball.

not to mention the big plays at Auburn and Rutgers.

Cornerbacks are usually the best athletes on the field.  Therefore good WR's are usually some of the smartest athletes on the field.  Jerry Rice wasn't a specimen, Steve Largent wasn't a burner, Michael Irvin was never a burner as well.  These guys simply employed the rules of geometry and body position to run the shortest distance to the point of reception and create the biggest target when they got there.

I believe Hester has the most potential to improve his game and think Amarri Jackson is a specimen who struggles playing in tight spaces.  The rest of our WR's are unknown commodities and I hope for the best.

Our talent level has increased each year Grothe arrived. And we'll see even more each year.

2005, we were 6-6 and our first Bowl.

We were 9-4 with one signature win in 2006 and our first Bowl win.

This season, we've had two signature wins (one at home against a Top 10 Conf. team and one on the road against a Top 25 SEC team) have sold out our stadium and avg over 50K per game, have shown ESPN that the nation wants to watch us and we're ranked in the Top 25 most of the season with 4 games remaining that we should win and end up 10-2.

We've got some fans that can not recognize improvement.

Go BULLS !!!
