SEC fines UK $50K for on-field celebration

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The Southeastern Conference fined Kentucky $50,000 Monday for failing to prevent fans from rushing the field after the Wildcats' triple-overtime victory over top-ranked LSU.

It was the third violation, dating to last year for Kentucky, which was fined $5,000 for the celebration after a win last year against Georgia and $25,000 earlier this year after a victory over Louisville.

Under the SEC policy, "access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly credentialed individuals at all times." Universities are held responsible if spectators rush into the competition area.

Kentucky defeated LSU 43-37 Saturday  its first victory over a top-ranked team since 1964.

Did USF ever get a fine for the glorious West Virginia celebration?

As far as I know, the SEC is the only conference that does this.  UK will fork over $50 K without a problem.  Beating the #1 team in the country will get you more than that anyway.  It doesn't take that many shirts to be sold across that state to add up to 50 K........

They're only giving UK a fine because they haven't figured out how to step it up with the big time SEC programs that throw cups, beer cans, newborns, glass bottles and a pair of high heeled shoes.

Once they begin this, I'm sure the fines will cease.

And some of you wonder why the SEC is called the toughest conference... hell, ya need a flak jacket and aerial support just to get out of a stadium lol.

I hope our fans realize that we will not be underdogs much, especially at home and find no need to storm the field after victories.

Go BULLS !!!
