sugar bowl jan 7

8) 8) 8)

Actually that is the date for the BCS National Championship Game (played in the Louisiana Superdome).  The Sugar Bowl game is on January 1, 2008.

Actually the Orange Bowl can choose either the BE Champion or the ACC champion.

So the BCS goes like this (Assuming Conference Champion is not in national title game)

Rose: B10 and P10

Fiesta B12 and at large

Sugar: SEC and at large

Orange: BE or ACC (the one not selected is at large) and at large

NC: Determined by BCS System

Assuming LSU v USC in NC

Rose: B10 and at large

Fiesta B12 and at large

Sugar: 2 at large

Orange: BE or ACC (the one not selected is at large) and at large

So if we win the BE there is a very good chance that we would be in the orange bowl

Just for clarification, Louisville and Wake Forest met in last season's Orange Bowl and were both their respective conference's champion.

Actually, the Orange Bowl doesn't get to choose.

Per the official BCS website (emphasis added):

2. Unless they qualify to play in the NCG, the champions of selected conferences are contractually committed to host selected games:

  Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl

  Big Ten Conference-Rose Bowl

  Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl

  Pac-10 Conference-Rose Bowl

  Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl

Wake Forest was selected per the BCS contract.  Lousiville was selected as an at-large team.

Legitimately, we shouldn't talk about this until about the 10 win area.  We're only a 1/3rd of the way thru the season people.  Lets not get ahead of ourselves, I know our Coach won't let the team do so.

I'm not saying as a jinx, but a legitimate we don't know what will happen in all cases.  If this last weekend should have thaught us anything, it's that anything can happen to any team. We're just finishing the 1st m.onth and we've had a season full of upsets.

Hey, don't get me wrong. There's a lot of time between now and December. I just thought it would be fun to kick around what ifs.

I talked to the Orange Bowl rep and the Sugar bowl before the game and they said that the Orange Bowl has the first pick of at large bids.  So I then put the Orange bowl rep on the spot and ask if he would take us given their track record taking Big East teams.  He replied that the Big East is a good fit for them thats why they take them.  I said so thats a yes.  He just smiled.  The Sugar bowl rep then said something to the effect of we would take you have you seen this place its packed.  They both laughed.
