Jim, your logic seems sound... but i think the visibility of that victory over WVU, might trump the "sloppy offense" arguement.  I'm happy.  #11?  I'm Happy.  # 9, I'm Happy.

Oh, btw... i'm happy.  ;D

Great time to be a BULL!!!!!

USF will be number 11... mark my words.

1 - LSU - Another BIG win

2 - USC - USC played sloppy, but is hanging on to win

3 - California - Won at Oregon for the first time in 20 years

4 - Ohio State - Easily won on the road at Minnesota

5 - Wisconsin - Won a tough game against a good Michigan State team

6 - Boston College - Tough win against the #2 I-AA team in the country, that is also in their hometown

7 - Oregon - Despite losing, they move up for holding Cal to a very close game

8 - Kentucky - Another big win, and Woodson is a possible Heisman candidate now

9 - Georgia - Big win between the hedges moves them up

10 - South Carolina - It was close for a while, but they pulled away

11 - South Florida - It was such a sloppy game offensively, it will be hard for the voters to say we're better than the SEC teams ahead of us...

Pollsters also happen to love Florida, and a close loss is not as bad as the Texas loss... Same with the Oklahoma loss... I hate to say this... I expect one or two of the teams that lost today to be ahead of USF...

My friends, do not be surprised when USF comes in at 11 or 12...

But oh how much will I be glad to be wrong!!!

Jim I agree except I would put UF in Top 10 and oregon behind us... I think number 11 is just fine..  It will keep team pissed.. "us against the world" works for me!!

Would not be surprised with any of this except Oregon, I doubt they'll move up 4 spots in the rankings after a loss.

I thought a 5-6 team jump to 12-13 last nite but I'm thinking 8-9 may be possible now.  The Bulls should definitely by rank higher than Rutgers, Oregon, and Clemson.  Rutgers will be lucky to remain in the Top 25.  They definitely won't be Top 20.  That was an ugly loss to a mediocre MD team.  Logically our Bulls should be rank higher than WVU & FL but I would not bet on it.  IMO Bulls jump SC and should jump KY.  After looking at the polls I'm thinking No. 10.  Jim, I like your top 6 then I say KY 7, GA 8, FL 9 (Gators have upset history vs Auburn.), USF 10.  BTW we'd beat KY b/c of the USF Flip :-).

The media LOVES Kentucky so I think they remain ahead of us as long as they don't lose.

i know a lot of smart college fans will give respect to UMass for fighting hard with Boston College, but there's no way the national media will give them that respect at all. they'll look at the score and say "BC sucked against a crappy Division 1-AA team."

Gotta differ.  This is upset Sat.  Any win against a scrappy underdog gets credit this weekend.

Looks like I was right, #6 in the AP Poll.  Screw the coaches.

Don't look now but we have a shot at a National Championship if we can run the table.
