Student Ticket Policy - IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS

Recommended Posts

and there is limited seating in Ray Jay if they don't decide to open the upper deck before the game.  they can't just decide to open it last minute when they see how many students show up.

No, they can't open it up last minute.  RayJay has to know in advance to schedule the staff for the upper deck... security/ushers... vendors... etc.

My guess is they can't really do it even the week of the game... but I don't recall how early they did it in 2005.

Students at FSU, UF, AU, Tenn. all pay fees for sports just like USF and only a small group get football tickets. In fact I remember correctly my UF friends use to have to request season tickets before the season and they paid a small fee for them each year. Most of the time freshman wouldn't even get them. ...

And I know that when Ohio St expanded down to the field closer a few years back, they decreased student tickets and increased paying tickets availability.

FB Student Tickets Numbers Rising

Courtesy: USF           Release: 09/19/2007

TAMPA, Fla. -- After a turnout that exceeded the allotted number of seats for the Elon game, the University of South Florida athletics department has dramatically increased the number of tickets available to students for the remainder of the 2007 football season.

USF will now make 12,000 seats available to the student population.  The USF ticket office allotted 8,000 for the Elon game and a student attendance numbered of 8,600.

"Our students support and interest is off the charts and that is why we made the decision to allocate 12,000 seats for students for the rest of the season," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Bill McGillis. "We had 8,600 for the opener and there is no question those numbers will grow.â€Â

"Student attendance is critical because they bring a level of energy, spirit and tradition that is unrivaled.  Our intent is to have the largest student section in the BIG EAST and we will."

USF is the largest school in terms of enrollment, which tops out at over 44,000, in the BIG EAST.

"We have always had the best student section in the BIG EAST," said sophomore quarterback Matt Grothe.  "The more it grows the more it will help us on the field."

Students can now pick up their free tickets during the week leading up to the game.

The benefits of picking up your free ticket early are:

    - The first 8,000 students receive a wrist band ensuring priority access in the south end zone of the lower bowl

    - Minimize the waiting and long lines at Raymond James Stadium

Students can pick up their tickets for the North Carolina game (Saturday at Noon on ESPN) at the Sun Dome ticket office during the following hours:

7 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Thursday & Friday, Sept. 20-21

Student ticket pickup will be available all next week for the game against No. 5 West Virginia (Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. on ESPN):

6 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Monday, Sept. 24 (Students can camp out in front of the Sun Dome)

7 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Tuesday - Thursday, Sept. 25-27

7 a.m. - Noon - Friday, Sept. 28

Students must bring a valid USF ID to pick up tickets.  Subject to availability, tickets will be available between Gates A and B on game day at Raymond James Stadium.

Ticket office representatives will be on campus on each of the satellite campuses for distribution on Thursday of this week and Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The additional 4,000 seats will be in sections 302-306.  There is no limit on companion tickets for North Carolina ($16 in advance, $21 the day of the game).

The tickets aren’t the only free part of the USF football experience.

Free student buses for the game versus UNC will be picking students up at 10:30 am Saturday from the student parking lot on the corner of Willow and Maple Drive.

There will be nine buses Saturday (10 for West Virginia) and they will be first come, first serve. Students must show a valid USF student ID to ride.

The buses will leave Raymond James Stadium within a half hour after the game’s conclusion.

I know it has been posted in other threads... but for the students... I figured it should be on the front page.  Students CAN be shut out of the game if USF runs out of tickets.

Merged it with the other thread, but your topic title was appropriate and needed to be out there.

They should also hold 344 to 341 for students.  Then they have 16,000 seats for students and companions.  That would be an awfully loud end zone for our visitors to drive toward.
