I know there is a campus design map out there showing what the campus will look like within the next decade... but, I was wondering what everyone thought the campus is going to be like in 10 years. Will the atmosphere of campus expand beyond the four sides of campus and grow and be more like a college town (obviously it won't BE a college town). How do you see the surrounding area of campus in 10 years.

Go Bulls!

It will be a full fledged college atmosphere in 10 years...commuter school days will be long in the past. The new Magnolia apartments will be built. The parking situation will be better. USF will get more academic recognition. Hopefully a new baseball stadium will be built! The sun dome renovations should be complete. The old dorm halls will be torn down (kappa, Lambda, epsilon etc. and new ones will be built in their place. Thank God!), and possibly some other unknown renovations that have not come to light yet. Oh and BTW USF wants suggestions on what to do with MLK square. It will be expanded and redesigned once the new Marshall center is built.

while i do think USF has made huge stride from the commuter school beginnings, it will always be a commuter school.. parking lots will always dominate, people will always go home after class, and the campus will always be dead after 6 PM or so.  however, for those who wish to live on campus, i still think USF is definitely a sleeper pick amongst the state schools.  i've never lived on campus, but walked around Holly with a friend at night, and it definitely feels like any other college.  i think the key is to build more dorms to house more freshman..  there's so much room around campus, i dont see why not.

maybe it's just me, but i'd like something built on the lawns just West of the MLK plaza.. like between the theater and NEC buildings.  another academic building or dorms or something to that extent would be cool.  granted, a lot of people like the open quad-look, i don't think it would hurt if we go more for the urban, buildings everywhere, look.  there's already enough open space on the outer fringes of campus, let's fill the center.

Personally, I like the big open space between the theater and the NEC.

I home we can shake some of the commuter school off... Although, I think the location in a large metropolitan area might kill the chance of that. But, building more housing on campus is a step in the right direction. What is the current student population on campus?

They're going to redesign MLK? I love it the way it is... bummer.

Will not happen. When the school was first laid out, that area was designated as "the green" and they said as long as the school is there, that area will remain open and green.

We will always be somewhat of a commuter school do to the fact we are in a large city.  But we allready have more students on campus then FSU.

My dream would be a small "downtown area"  with Bull Hoofs painted on the street.  It could be very successfull.  With all the medical building and school employees ect.  lunch time would pack it and the students at night would fill the bars.

Would be great to see a "downtown" area... bars and shops would be a nice touch to USF's campus. Although, I am not sure where they would go.

I would like to see the number of cars on campus reduced from those who live on campus. Free up some more area that is currently occupied by resident parking.

I want a bull statue in MLK plaza, the only statue we have is the one in athletics and it's not all that grand. The commuter school outlook will change, school pride is at an all time high here on campus and for the most part the dorms we have on campus are full, and the surrounding apartments are close to capacity. Once the new dorms are built, look out.

Already in the plans. If the expanded MLK Plaza plan is approved, there should be multiple bulls in a fountain/waterfall.
