Sophomore pitcher Shawn Sanford, junior infielder Addison Maruszak and Florida transfer Ryan Lockwood (OF) all played in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Brevard CC transfer Ryan Garcia played in the Valley Baseball League and Louisville transfer Andrew Salgueiro was with the Florida Collegiate Summer League. Sanford played in nine games for the Cape Cod Baseball League Champions, the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, after two appearances with the USA Baseball National Team. The right hander made nine appearances, two of which were starts, for the 31-12-1 Red Sox from South Yarmouth, Mass. He produced a 1-1 record with three saves, posting a 4.4 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 24.1 innings. Maruszak, the Bulls third baseman, batted .278 in 33 games for the Bourne Braves, who went 25-17 this summer. Maruszak produced 17 RBI from 30 hits, including four doubles and one home run. He was a perfect 4-of-4 stealing bases for the team from Monument Beach, Mass. Maruszak started 20 games at shortstop, eight at third base and five in the outfield. A transfer from Florida, Ryan Lockwood played for both the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League and the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs of the Coastal Plains League. With the Mariners, Lockwood batted .400 with a pair of hits in two games, and collected two bases on balls. In 19 games with Fayetteville, Lockwood produced 12 hits and scored 13 runs while driving in five. Newcomer Ryan Garcia, a transfer from Brevard CC, played in 11 games for the Woodstock River Bandits in Richmond, Va. The River Bandits were 22-25 this season as Garcia connected on five hits, including a double and a home run. Garcia, a catcher and outfielder, made 52 put outs and had four assists in the field with no errors. Andrew Salgueiro, a transfer from Louisville, made five appearances with the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs of the Florida Collegiate Summer League.
