All American Football League

Former Florida QB Shane Matthews to coach the team for the state of Florida.

This will make the offseason a little bit more enjoyable.

They play in Gainesville and their colors are orange and blue... I can't see anyone on this board giving two hoots about that.

Yeah, can't say I really care about that either, but I heard an interview where Shane said he'll be recruiting players from all the Florida schools.  We might see some USF players that didn't make the NFL cut.

"Among the former USF players expected to attend Friday's workout are

linebacker Maurice Jones,

defensive ends Tim Jones, Jason Allen and Jon Simmons,

safeties Johnnie Jones and Drametrice Smith,

tight end Mike Ruegger,

receivers Allynsson Sheffield and Hugh Smith,

defensive back Joe Morgan and

long-snapper Ryan Bourdeau."

Looks like they're also going to play at least one home game in Tampa.

They will be playing 1 game at Raymond James, 1 game in Jacksonville, and the rest will be played in Gainesville.

But according to Saban, we don't have any graduates.

Why would you put a start up team in a college town that has nothing around it, and make them play in a 80,000 seat stadium for 5,000 people.  That is just a financial success in the making.  At least the NFL won't sue them out of existence, they will fail on their own merits.

Looks like they're also going to play at least one home game in Tampa.

They are going to put UF guys on the team, have UF colors, UF music all in the town on Gainesville. That's why they are going to play in a college town.

They are building this league around college towns because A) they have a built in fan base, B) they don't need to build stadiums C) It's in the spring when there is no football.

This league will probably last longer than most football leagues that have come before.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
