Guest
Well... he muffed a punt fairly badly... tried running and diving to catch it... enabled Green Bay to win the game.
Guest
From NBC 10 in Philly...Eagles Sign Familiar Face To Catch KicksThe Eagles will not gamble on their punt return man for next Monday night's game. They've brought back a familiar face to catch kicks. After fumbling away a win in the season opener, the Birds are calling for Reno to the rescue.Whether he's the answer to the Eagles return problems remains to be seen, but Andy Reid is going with familiarity and dependability rather than speed and unreliability.Reno Mahe signed a one-year deal for the league minimum. As a fifth-year player in the NFL, the minimum salary is $600,000. Mahe arrived Tuesday morning on a red flight from Utah.Mahe will more than likely return punts next Monday against the Redskins but this also means someone has to be released, to maintain the 53 man roster. Or a rookie could be cut and placed on the practice squad.Mahe isn't spectacular, but he does catch the football and makes good decisions and for now, that will satisfy Andy Reid. The Eagles fumbled away a victory in their season opener against Green Bay and Greg Lewis was leveled on the punt in the first quarter. The mad dash for the ball resulted in the Packers' only touchdown of the game. Then in the fourth quarter, the Eagles gave away the game when J.R. Reed made a poor decision and tried to make a running catch in traffic. The resulting fumble set up the Packers' game-winning field goal.NBC 10's Vai Sikahema predicted last week that the Eagles would lose two games because of special teams."I haven't changed my position, even with Mahe's signing," Sikahema said. The Eagles still have a new punter, who is also David Akers' new holder. Sav Rocca has one game under his belt and whether he can do the job through the season is still a question mark.
