In a certain sense, you can think of our conference brethren as being in cooptition; http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/cooptition.html  with us.  Everyone wants to win, however, for the benefit of all, we all (should) want whats best for the conference.

The best example I could come up with was the Nash's Equilibrium best explained from the Beautiful Mind clip off YouTube;

.  Or if you want to really go high brow, here is a link to an explanation on harvard.edu;  http://www.haverford.edu/math/lbutler/maths-illustrated.html

It is all about the governing dynamics....

I have to say, I like the camaraderie and brotherhood feeling.

Big East!

Big Beasts!

So do I, I think it will take more than a year to change the national perception that the Big East is weak and if we turn on each other we'll only be hurting the conference.

When we're head to head with RATgers, West ****** and the Louis-Village people, I hate them. But when they are OOC, I support all the Big East teams. I will be cheering for Louisville this weekend, I think they are playing Kentucky.

I guess if I had to choose, I hate RATgers the most because they beat up on cupcakes and have yet to beat a marquee OOC opponent, while they swear they are better than us. We will beat them down in Pissthataway.

Everyone else pretty much has it covered: since we are fighting for respect (and even last season, proving the BE needs a BCS bid), we want to make the conference look as good as possible. In the SEC, for example, losing an OOC conference game to the BE is like "Oh, well the SEC is still the best conference". If a BE team loses to the SEC, it's "See, the Big East sucks"

But on the other hand, I like the feel of some comradery.  While I of course wish for destruction against them when USF plays any BE team, I like to root for our Big East "Brothers".

So it's a little bit of both.

Brotherhood, the media gave the "new" Big East no chance, therefore, it seems that fans and teams root for each other to gain the respect the conference has earned.

A successful Big East validates our Bulls program and our league champion. USF running the table and everyone else in the big east winning 9-11 games is alright with me, even if it is mathematically impossible.
