Except two polls aren't' reporting and the highest and lowest votes are dropped... so, we've only got two votes to really look at.

True, but those are the BCS rules for the computer rankings so all teams (even this early in the year when they are really meaningless) are being treated equally.

If you e-mail them, use small words.  They don't seem to be the sharpest knives in the drawer...

I think copying and pasting this blurb by Mandel might do:

South Florida Bulls (2-0)

A public service to my fellow voters: The school is called South Florida (or USF). Its nickname is the Bulls. They play in a BCS conference. And over their past four games they've beaten both West Virginia and Auburn on the road. You might want to think about putting them on your ballot.

Last game: Beat Auburn, 26-23.

Next game: Sept. 22 vs. North Carolina

The ballots are now updated.  Remind them how in the last four games we have won in Morgantown, and in Auburn.

Guys, good luck with your email campaign.  But I'm telling you these 3 rankings are all that matters in our quest for a BCS bowl and NC:

BCS Computer Rankings (USF currently #10)

http://www.tellshowbcs.com/CP.htm

USA Today Coaches Poll (USF currently #27)

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Harris Interactive Poll (First poll comes out in 3 weeks)

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/harris.htm

Okay, I've said my peace once again.

Okay, I've said my peace once again.

1) There are two National Championships at stake every season. Ask any member of the 2003 LSU squad. I think most find the AP championship to be at least as credible as the BCS one, if not more so.

2) Acknowledgment from the media will bring respect from the coaches, or at least contribute towards it.

3) There is more at stake than just a possible national title, such as name recognition that might help land a better bowl should we not win the Big East BCS bid. It also would probably serve to get more on-the-fence fans excited about the upcoming games.
