How did you feel about CJL's decision to kick for the tie?

i bullieved it was the right decision

but i hoped he would go for it.

my wife could not look.

JL has balls!

DV has balls to walk out on that field again.

when that kick went in I knew we would win that game.

If there was ever a clearer version of go for the win I have never seen it. In the post game comments CJL came up with "I don't know" when talking about it. It all worked out for the best but there was no rational reason to believe DA was going to make the kick and if he did we just get into a possible battle of field goals which would have been akin to suicide.

We played the whole game very close to the vest so I guess it was no real surprise but I wish we would have just gone for the win from the beginning of the series. A couple shots at the endzone (I believe some play action passing) would have done wonders, really I would have loved to have seen some at any point in the 4Q with the field position we had. Anyway gott love the faith he had in DA, he was the only one who had any, just look at the players when the decision was made to see how they felt about it. If DA misses that kick he was in danger of losing more than the game. JMOFWIW

I have to agree with you given CJL's lack of explanation and a MG quote in the Trib contradicting that line of thinking.

Grothe said he never doubted Leavitt would go for the first down. "He told us during the week if we scored a touchdown late we would go for two points to get the win,"

i cant say i agree or disagree because its all 'what ifs'

it worked...

but i will say..in my 25 years of life and a good portion of that spent watching sporting events...that was the single most nerve racking play i have EVER watched.

The entire 2nd half was a preview of that kick...nerve racking and a roller coaster of emotions.

Greg linked this article and I think it sums up the best why we kicked:  http://www.sptimes.com/2007/09/10/Sports/Kicks_were_shaky__but.shtml

Have faith in your players.

I agreed with CJL 100%.  It was an extra point.  No way Delbert was going to miss another 20 yarder.  Great call by the coach.

IMO, CJL's decision to kick was when I felt we were probably going to win after all.

I knew we were going to win when Tuberville chose to down the football and take the game to OT . . . Karma baby!

In hindsight, it was brilliant!  Had it not worked, I still wouldn't have questioned it.  He's paid to make those kind of decisicions.
