The Bulls compiled a 2-0-0 record over the weekend at the UConn/adidas Classic in Storrs, Conn., picking up victories against Florida International (1-0) on Fri., Sept. 7, and 15th ranked South Carolina (2-0) on Sat., Sept. 8. The back-to-back shutouts earned first-year keeper Diego Restrepo a BIG EAST Honorable Mention accolade for the week, his first conference honor. USF defeated in-state rivals UCF 5-2 in the season opener on Aug. 31, and Stetson 1-0 in the team’s first road trip of the year on Sept. 2. The 4-0-0 start is close to equaling the 5-0-0 start that the men’s soccer team began the 2004 year with. That squad then tied its next two matches then won two more to extend its record 7-0-2 before suffering its first defeat. The Bulls ended that season 10-5-2 overall in their last year with Conference USA. USF last appeared in the Soccer America rankings on Oct. 21, 2006, before the team’s regular season 1-0 loss at St. John’s. The Bulls will go for win number five this Sat., Sept. 15 when the team welcomes American University to the USF Soccer Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. first kick. Admission to the USF Soccer Stadium is $5 for adults, $3 for youth 16-and-under and $2 for groups of 10 or more. Season tickets are also available.
