Bulls have OL questions

USF hopes for the best after key backup Jared Carnes leaves practice.

TAMPA - Another offensive lineman was carted off the field, potentially leaving the Bulls dangerously thin at the position entering Saturday's game against No. 17 Auburn.

Backup tackle Jared Carnes left the practice field Wednesday with an ice pack on his right knee. The severity of his injury is unknown.

Carnes would be a huge loss as the senior saw significant playing time during the opener Saturday against Elon.

The injury to Carnes leaves just freshman Jacob Sims as the only healthy backup tackle. Starters Marc Dile and Walt Walker are nursing injuries and center Nick Capogna will sit out after suffering an injury against Elon.

Freshman center Sampson Genus participated the entire practice Wednesday and is expected to play against Auburn. Genus wore a protective boot last week and missed the Elon game.

During preseason training, as many as nine offensive linemen missed time with injuries and illness.

Sophomore running back Moise Plancher is not expected to play Saturday after an ankle injury forced him to miss the first game of the season.
