I expect Auburn to come out breathing fire because they feel disrespected by a decent amount of media picking us to upest them in a night game at their house.  I think they havent lost a night home game in 4-5 years if my memory serves me right.   If we come out flat or dont start well its going to be a very long night.

Totally agree.

If we get down by a chunk o' points early, it could be really sad.

We need to jump out on top early.

If we don't take the crowd out of it, things will be much tougher.

Does the same go the other way? Doesn't all this hype pump up our players?

No, quite the opposite.

They start believing the hype... like they already have the game won.

See also (Appalachian State @ Michigan).

Or an example closer to home, our complete lack of focus against elon.

But that lack of focus vs Elon will prove to them they CAN'T think they have already won the game.  Both teams are going to come out ready to play.

If thats the case then we should win this game.  Auburns offense will have no answer for our D if we are firing on all cylinders.

I don't necessarily buy that. I think that if they hear this hype it may make them more focused. Prepare even harder.

No 1-A teams expects to lose to a 1-AA team.  However, I think our team still realizes what a challenge this game is going to be.  There's a big difference in the scenario in the place formerly known as the big house and the one we will face this weekend.

I don't think the Auburn team will be surprised, but more so the fans. Alot of the more casual fans have no idea about USF and are thinking its going to be a 35- 10 destruction.

if we would of been Elon by like 40 points then i would be even more worried about this game.

but the fact that we kinda got tested on saturday helped them probably really focus in practice this week and hopefully come out on all the right plays.

the first 10 minutes of that game will be HUGE

I don't see where we were tested at all by Elon.  There is a big difference between dropping balls when you are open and being challenged by the defense.  We stopped ourselves from scoring more on Saturday, their defense really didn't stop us.  All of our problems were self inflicted.  Especially the stupid penalties.

The biggest challenge will be if our coaches can get our team to stay focused and mentally strong and play smart football.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
