Line holding at Auburn -7

The line opened at Auburn -6 two days ago.  I thought Auburn money would come pouring in on that and it would be at least -10 today.  Surprising to anyone else?

Surprised.........no.  Do you know how much money has to be wagered for a line to move that many points over night?  It is extremely rare to see a line swing that much in 24-48 hours.  Also, once it hits 7.5 or higher, thats when the USF money will shoot it down. 

There is a reason they keep putting up million dollar hotels in Vegas.........

Maybe if a QB gets suspended or something like that.  But if there are no injuries or suspensions, or a player on the take,  lines don't just move that much.

It takes $500,000 dollars on one side of a line to get it to move 1/2 a point...thats right, just 1/2. So to go from 6 to 10, it would take $4,000,000 to go on the Auburn side, while $0 went on the USF side.

I would have no trouble believing that more than $4 million more had been placed on Auburn at -6 against us than us against them. So assuming your numbers are correct, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the line had shifted to USF +10. $4 million doesn't seem like much money when you consider how many people bet on college football.

This isn't the Super Bowl.  There are other games to gamble on this week, including the NFL, which is much more popular in Vegas to bet.

it's much easier to bet on games with 20 point spreads in NCAA than the typical 5 point spread in the NFL
