How did that come about?2) Why do the students all wear dressy clothes to the game(ties and dresses)?(This is not making fun of you guys, I just want to know)

The story goes that a confederate soldier found himself and a baby eagle to be the only living things on the battlefield. He rescued the eagle and kept it as a pet. Years later he became a member of the Auburn faculty. In 1892 at Auburns first football game (which was against georgia) the eagle took flight and circled the field. Te fans began shouting "War Eagle!!!" Auburn went on to win i believe 10-0. And it has been our warcry ever since. The dress up is something that fraternities usually require all of the freshmen to do, and many upper classmen continue to do also. The ladies dress to match.
