Not gone long: Reed signs with Eagles

Former USF safety J.R. Reed, cut Saturday by the New York Giants, has a new start to his NFL career, back where it began. Reed has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted him in 2004, according to his agent, Jonathan Kline.

Reed was part of Philadelphia's NFC champion 2004 team but missed the next season with a serious leg injury. He spent part of last season with the St. Louis Rams, and now gets a second chance with the Eagles. His signing gives USF five former players on NFL rosters, with cornerback Anthony Henry (Cowboys), linebacker Kawika Mitchell (Giants), linebacker Stephen Nicholas (Falcons) and running back Andre Hall (Broncos).
