Volleyball Opens 2007 Campaign

TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 31, 2007) –  The University of South Florida volleyball team opens its 2007 campaign this weekend at the Western New York Invitational, which is hosted by Buffalo, Canisius and Niagara at each respective university’s arena.

The first match for USF will take place against Buffalo on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Bulls will then travel to Niagara and face the Purple Eagles later that evening at 7 p.m. On Sunday, USF will conclude tournament action against Fordham at the Gallagher Center at Niagara. 

All three competitors USF faces this weekend are first-time opponents for the Bulls. 

USF has started a season in tournament action 23 times in 34 years, tallying an overall record of 56-34. Fifteen of the 23 tournaments the Bulls have participated in have been on the road and eight have been at home. USF has compiled a record of 23-6 at home and 33-28 on the road. Furthermore, only five of USF’s tournaments on the road have actually been out of the state of Florida.
