They look cheap and out of place with the older buildings on campus.

I have one daughter at school there and another on the way. Suitecase city and all the crime it brings. What is causing the homeless to pick that area to dwell in? Cars are getting broken into, people are getting pistol whipped. Is it just the cheap rent? I lived in the Way apratments when I was in school and it was nothing like it is now. What happened? Yes, it is cheap rent. The City of Tampa closed a few projects (er affordable housing developments), renovating some ... but they didn't rebuild the same number of units. When the people moved out, they moved North - to the University Area. The area on the opposite side of campus, and on the North side of campus is not bad. If I were to move back into the area, I would live there. The area between Bruce B Downs, The Claw, and Fletcher is almost all students.I also lived at "The Way" - which changed its name while I was living there... it has since changed its name again. I hope that beige brick is never brought on campus again - it's hideous. The red brick goes too well with our colors to pass up, plus it looks great with ivy growing on it. I think the funniest thing I have read referring to our campus was from UCFer...Our campus looks like a soviet housing development.Things I would like to see added: (not including OCS)1. A clock tower or prominent landmark - used for a Central meeting place.2. New Library 3. More red brick with green accents. My favorite buildings on campus include the Natural Sciences, Education, and Moffit Cancer Center. We need to expand on that architecture. Cease building structures that will hold us over for 20 years, we need stuff that could potentially last 75-100 years.

A clock tower or prominent landmark - used for a Central meeting place.Exactly. When people invision FSU, they think of the Wescott Admin Building. When people think UF, they think of Century Tower. Hell, UCF even has their big fountain as their landmark. The closest think we have is MLK plaza and the covered walkway. Truthfully, when I close my eyes and think of the campus, I think of the giant water tower. We need some kind of landmark. Maybe not a tower, I don't think that would fit in at USF, but something that expresses the school well. We also need a statue of a bull on-campus. Again, most other schools have a statue of their mascot, we don't. It's a matter of school pride.

Also, there needs to be more art and sculptures.Stained/Moldy beige brick = yucky.....Stained/Moldy Red Brick = Historic buildings

I believe (and maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong) there is a bull statue in the athletics building. When I think of campus I think of the MLK area. It's such a nice area. There is a bull statue in the athletics department, and while it looks nice, it is hollow and not very hevy...I say something like the one on wall street with the charging bull, looking down the flowered terrace of MLK plaza. I do believe one will be near the new MC.......where the majority of students can see it.
