Gammons was one (yes i know he's from boston, but he's one of the most objective people ever... he actually thinks the yankees are doing great this offseason) ... and the other two i recognized but their name eludes me. Very well respected ex-players. I agree... no one can be an expert, but i'd take Peter Gammons word over biased fans.

I mean, really, even with increased revenue sharing and the payroll tax and all that, it's still the Yankees and the Red Sox (and maybe the Mets and L.A. Dodgers) and, back there in line, everybody else.

For example, before Joe Torre managed the Red Sox he had a career managerial record of 894-1003 or .4712 winning pct. Even worse was his first stint as a manager of mets for 6 years. He was 286-420 for a paltry .4051 winning pct. I personally think Torre is a great manager and thank heavens that somebody saw that or he would have never been given another shot after being a world class loser for the mets. He also sucked for the braves and cardinals. Wonder why the Yanks would hire a loser manager like that? Oh yeah cuz he is a good manager that had crappy teams to manae but once he got good players his true colors came out. I will be waiting for your rebuttal counselor.http://www.baseball-reference.com/managers/torrejo01.shtml
