The Big East is very young this year and will only get better. This was an off year for the conference and we still couldn't make it to the Garden.

Rabbi Bull Posted March 3, 2007 Group: Member Topic Count: 110 Content Count: 3,103 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 03/14/2002 Posted March 3, 2007 while the rest of the big east was young, so were we. we were only two of our players who really played this season, saw significant time last season, everybody else saw little to no minutes last season, and we were playing and starting freshman and redshirt freshman, also people who haven't played a real game in two years. so while one can make the argument that the big east was young this year, so we should have made the tourny easily, one could also make the argument that we were also very young and due to that we shouldn't have made the tourny easily. you seem to forget flsportsfan, how young we actually were this year, and how much of that youth comes back next season.

Do I agree with this? HMMM...The way I see it, he has one year to really destroy the program then no one will make excuses for him, DW will feel justified in firing him. For some reason I feel like DW doesn't want to build a reputation of "hiring & firing." If that is the case I tend to agree with DW because you don't want to be a university where coaches become expendable. On the flip side though the reality is that coach MAC has been here for a good bit of time and has produced NOTHING in the way of wins. He has built a program of integrity, which I commend him for.I guess the question I keep asking myself is, "What is one more year?" I felt like he should have been gone before this year in order for someone to step in and turn the program around but since then he has dug a deaper hole and I don't believe it makes any difference at this point. 1 more year will solidify his fate.

The other seniors are not major losses. The problem is that if the whole conference is young (us included) and we can only manage to win 3 games. Why should we expect to get more wins next year?
