(Feb. 26, 2007) – The University of South Florida (9-1) broke into the national polls today as Collegiate Baseball Newspaper placed the Bulls 30th in the NCAA Division I poll.  The Bulls are off to their best start since the 1986 season, and are 9-1 for only the fourth time in the history of USF baseball (1974, 1982, 1986 and 2007).  In 10 games, USF is maintaining a .347 batting average, crushing 116 hits, while holding the opponent to 67 hits and a .209 batting average. The Bulls have scored 85 runs and tallied 77 RBI, and the opposition has scored just 44 runs with 35 RBI.  USF pitchers hold a 3.13 ERA, allowing 31 earned runs in 89.0 innings. As a staff, the Bulls have struck out 70 and walked 44.Vanderbilt (10-0) is ranked as the best team in college baseball, followed by Florida State (13-0) and North Carolina (7-0). Georgia Tech (6-4), who the Bulls play May 5-7 in Tampa, is ranked 14th. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Beating UF and sweeping our weekend series will put us in the top 25!!! It looks like FAU is off to one heck of a start as well.
